Time

In the Realm of Dreams time is not as it is in reality. Hours and days can pass in a matter of seconds, somewhat the opposite to when you jump off a 10 metre waterfall and time slows just long enough for you to contemplate your life and what is most important to you.
These feelings of compressed and expanded time are a human ability, without an answer I can readily vocalize. All I know is that if I counted the time I had spent conscious whilst dreaming I would be a more than 17months older than I actually am in my waking life.
If our experiences are actually the culmination of what we see, hear, feel, smell, sense and taste does it not make sense that to think the dreaming lives we may (or may not as is the case in 80% of humans) live beyond the illusion that is our reality, are in fact a partial inclusion to our lives?
With this laid forth I can only hope there are others dreaming the dreams of lives lived and not yet lived, of times that have happened and times that have not yet come to pass, of places that existed, exist and in some way exist at the same time but somehow in a dimension not our own.
My life at this point in time is filled to the brim, with these thoughts that continually bombard my senses as I work and raise children and having found no release due to my partners lack of interest in subjects no more complex than the mundanity of life ( e.g. what we have for dinner, who is going to take out the trash, whether we should use the white plates or the green plates at lunchtime etc...) I must seek elsewhere for truth.
It is up to You varied artists of Planet Earth to reply to this in honesty, not for me but for yourself. Sometimes we hold in the depths of ourselves knowledge we had no idea we possessed, it merely needed the right trigger (series of words or experiences) to unlock this hidden potential.
We as artists are the polar opposite of scientists yet share a common goal of realization through focusing on external influences. The scientist will test and retest making the smallest changes to the variables and watching what happens. The Artist consciously or sub-consciously does the same thing but draws from their own knowledge and experience and from what had worked in the past. The side effects of producing art that reflect part of ourselves is a greater understanding of the world around us, however it may be through means unexplained, or (says quietly)mystical in nature that we discover these insights, but they are insights none the less.
